Ummmm . . . steak

News anchor Jenny Anchondo at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, has video of what must be the world’s biggest scented billboard. The advertisement, for a new type of beef featured at the Bloom grocery chain in Charlotte, North Carolina, propels the scent of hickory barbeque up to fifty yards across the adjoining roadway. (Yes, close observers will note that the visual image is of steak au poivre. And another report describes the scent as black pepper and charcoal.)
In any case, this beats the old smoke-blowing cigarette billboards in Times Square that were scentless.
All of which produced for me a vivid reverie of rodizio at Plataforma Churrascaria on W. 49th. (+Q Perfume are you listening? I want rodizio and I want it NOW!)

The only barbecue that actually tastes as good as it smells -- let me amend that; the only barbecue I've tried that actually tastes as good as it smells comes from Fox Bros. Barbecue right here in At-lanta, believe it or not.

If the fan blows constantly, they must go through a lot of scent molecules. Does anyone know what they use for charcoal and pepper scents? How fast are they evaporating it out of whatever containers they are using? And what's the concentration they produce?

Thanks.

Excellent.

FYI if you ever find yourself in the miserable hellhole that is Newark, New Jersey, there's some fine rodizio to be had in the Ironbound District.

I'll believe it, given the educated palate behind the evaluation.

For some reason, I've never been to Atlanta. I'll have to remedy that.

According to the WPXI link in my post, the billboard's scent generator operates only during morning and afternoon rush hours, and the run is limited to about two weeks. Still, that a goodly amount of juice.

Would be great to hear from some motorists in Mooresville.

Anyone? Anyone?
