I'm glad I could be a t...I just read your post. I'm glad I could be a tiny bit of inspiration. One really good quote from the wonderful Ellery Queen I came across was how he described the smell of a woman he was smitten with… " an aroma, or rather an effluvium, emanating from her person that was like the ghost of last year’s honeysuckle.” I'd love to think my perfume made that kind of impact on someone. I'm now on Raymond Chandler's Farewell, My Lovely. And I love that conversation about the orchids too. But how about the little sister in the book.
