I am shannon sweets younger sister Krystal and i want to say how much i appreciate what you wrote above. Shannon was very "stuck" because of her addiction. She needed help and knew it but could never take that step towards sobriety. She has a son that really thought the world of her and misses her everyday as we all do. She had a huge heart. People sometimes think that a persons actions, make them a bad person but shannon was not always an escort, or drug addict. She had the most infectious laugh and when her, my sister sarah and i were all together, it was like we were children again cause we would be ridiculously goofy lol. Thank you for seeing her for something other then her addiction.. So many people are so quick to judge people and situations. Because somebody is an addict and doing things not so great to support that addiction that they had it coming or something. When I think about Shannon, I don't think about the drugs, bad choices, or mistakes. I remember the fun, loving, beautiful sister she was. I do not have a ton of money but would have helped her come home if I had just known....Saddened to hear this and Hope that her Killer gets his some day...Prison just isnt enough ...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-61355324734679007612011-09-16T01:58:25.228-07:002011-09-16T01:58:25.228-07:00I met Shannon Sweet here in Florida while at work....I met Shannon Sweet here in Florida while at work. I end up spending some time with her this night and then again a few months later at another house she was "working" out of. No i'm not a "John". I'm a cop here in Fl. When a fellow cop called me that day and told me about her death I was not so much shocked as sad. Bother times meeting Shannon she admited her problems to me both times she wishes she could just go home with her family. Both times she was in full on tears. I know the detectives and SAO's on this case will do the right thing and her killer will be brought to justice. RIP Shannon Sweet. She is a reminder of the world around us and also a reminder of how hard this job is. Thank a cop of you see one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-54173173249027361082011-02-26T19:38:58.461-07:002011-02-26T19:38:58.461-07:00I knew Shannon when she moved to Florida. She was ...I knew Shannon when she moved to Florida. She was a stripper at Lookers and was big on crack and oxycontin. I was actually trying to get her off of those drugs. I was her boyfriend at the time and also on probation for living off the proceeds of prostitution. She went crazy one night trying to get her fix by stealing my money but I wouldnt let her leave. She then called her mother and made up some far fetched story. Her mother from Vermont then called the Lee county sheriffs department. Shannon lied to both of the officers and the statements she made didnt match up. The male officer didnt want to press charges but the female officer did. I spent 8 and a half months in jail for violation of probation. The battery charge was dropped within a couple of months. I had to move in with a friend across country because all of my belongings were gone to a junkie who obviously pawned or sold them. She was a very sick individual who I was helping. Her mother should have minded her own business. Good job Vicki.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05310498656179368401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-55303964848743978342010-08-20T15:46:15.103-07:002010-08-20T15:46:15.103-07:00Innocent until proven guilty is all good and fine ...Innocent until proven guilty is all good and fine but in this situation you have this man admitting to a friend that he had indeed strangled her because she wouldn't shut up. Sounds pretty open and shut to me yes?

Also, in this day and age, do we really believe "you brought it on yourself" is a logical reasoning? This was not about jealousy, this was about someone taking money he wanted for drugs from a girl who was trying to escape, come home where she wouldn't be pimped out by someone who supposedly loved her.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-88280376142928493192010-07-11T18:21:00.466-07:002010-07-11T18:21:00.466-07:00Anonymous:

In the meantime, public opinion can view him guilty or not as it likes. Based on the available facts cited in my post, most people wouldn't find it a stretch to think that he's guilty of Shannon Sweet's murder.

The fact that "she was an escort and engaged in a risky lifestyle" doesn't do much to reduce suspicions about Gullett. If you are an escort, part of the risk is that your boyfriend might get jealous, and that he might take your money, especially if he's also your "driver."Avery Gilberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18104017679971839738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-50926254184663489692010-07-11T02:54:20.385-07:002010-07-11T02:54:20.385-07:00Whatever happened to 'innocent until PROVEN gu...Whatever happened to 'innocent until PROVEN guilty?". I hope her killer is eventually punished as well, but she was an escort and engaged in a risky lifestyle. Any number of people could have been responsible for this. Just don't convict someone in the press and destroy their chance at a fair trial that is their RIGHT under the AMERICAN CONSTITUTION.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125354955146250762.post-6009218153890288792010-04-17T18:31:43.042-07:002010-04-17T18:31:43.042-07:00Victoria:

I am Shannon Sweets cousin up in Vermont and I guess the thoughts I had throughout, was that Shannon was NOT so
"These stories are inherently sad—the deceased is so tenuously connected to the world that only the odor of decay brings their disappearance to someone’s attention."
Shannon was loved and missed and even before her body was found, her disapearance was an ALARM. The reason she fought with her killer so long and hard the night of her death was because she planned to use the $800 that he had stolen to COME HOME!
No one should have their life taken away from them for any reason in the world. And he needs his just punishment.Victorianoreply@blogger.com
